We also introduced some key 'design gestures' which include a glazed gable to the west which floods in the evening sunlight and offers great countryside views. The client originally wanted to extend out to the rear elevation. We persuaded them against this to maintain the original stone and brick features of the old barn. Instead, we carefully considered the reverse living layout and introduced a side extension that involved a roof terrace linking directly from the kitchen.
